Below are some of the commonly asked questions we get about how things work at Metta Massage & Yoga Clinic. If you have questions about yoga in general, please visit our Links & Resources page for some suggestions on great sources of information on yoga styles, yoga philosophy and more.

Can I use my 10-Class Card for any class at Metta?

10-class card can be used for drop in only.
Metta has 3 types of classes: drop-in, pre-registered and therapeutic. You can use your 10-class card for any drop-in or prenatal yoga class on the "Wellness Yoga" schedule. 10-class cards cannot be used for therapeutic classes, pre-registered classes or workshops.

If I'm late can I still participate in a class?

It is best if you can arrive 10 minutes before your class starts. This allows you to begin to let go of your day and bring yourself into the yoga space. If you are late, please come in as quietly as possible. We encourage you to acknowledge that it is disruptive to the teacher and other students if you are running in late and diminishes your own experience of the class as well.

What should I wear?

Please see "Yoga Etiquette".

Can I bring a friend?

We encourage you to bring as many friends as you like! Please note that all first time participants must fill out a yoga class form prior to taking a class.

Do you have complimentary passes for guests?

Yes. We have complimentary class passes available and are happy to provide you with the number you need for friends. Please note that complimentary class passes may only be used by one person, once. All first time participants must fill out a yoga class form prior to taking a class.

What do I need to bring to class?

We encourage you to bring your own yoga mat and water. If you forget your mat, you can rent one for $1.00. Tap water is available outside the yoga room. You are free to use the numerous props, pillows and blankets available in the yoga room.

I'm new to yoga, can you suggest a class?

Almost all of our classes are gentle to moderate and stress focusing on your own experience. Provided you have no serious mobility or health issues, most classes would be suitable. We suggest you try out a few times and teachers and see what feels best for you. If you have any hesitations, we encourage you to do a health assessment with one of our qualified staff to gain a better understanding of what program would be of the most benefit to you.

Do I have to do all the postures the teacher presents?

You do not need to be in the full expression of any posture to benefit. Our teachers encourage all participants to work within their own personal comfort levels and be mindful of where they are at in any given day.

Are there change rooms and showers at Metta?

There are 3 large washroom facilities that allow plenty of room for changing. We do not have showers.

Is there a place to leave valuables?

We suggest you bring any valuables into the yoga room. Coats and shoes/boots can be left at the coat rack provided at our entrance way.

Can I put my 10 Class Card on hold?

You can extend your class card for 30 days and add 2 more classes to it for just $20. Please talk to a client care representative for details.

Is your pre-natal class safe throughout my pregnancy?

Yoga is beneficial to you during all phases of pregnancy and a wonderful way to connect with the developing baby. We strongly advise that if your pregnancy is high risk, that you consult with your doctor and advise your teacher prior to class.

Can I feed my baby during class?

We have a special Baby & Me class for new Moms. You are welcome to stop and attend to any of your baby’s needs during class.

Is there a place to put strollers?

Space is limited in the hallways and yoga studio at Metta. We recommend you bring your stroller into the yoga room, or outside at ground level.
