traditional thai yoga massage

Ancient Thai Massage is an extraordinary 2,500 year old healing arts system based in Indian Ayurvedic Medicine, Buddhist spiritual practice and Yoga.

Traditional Thai Massage fluidly and meditatively blends gentle rocking, rhythmic acupressure and assisted stretches to deeply relax and revitalize body and mind. Unparalleled in its ability to open the body and extend flexibility, clients call sessions "awesome," "euphoric," and "what I've always been looking for."

One of the ancient healing arts of traditional Thai medicine, Thai Yoga Massage is said to have been developed by the doctor who traveled from China to India with the Buddha thousands of years ago, as yoga was first developing. Monks that spent many hours in meditation benefited from the passive stretching techniques… not unlike our many computer athletes sitting long days at the computer here in the west! Thai Yoga Massage has been practiced in the west for only 15 to 20 years.

Thai massage is practiced on a large mat on the floor, and the person receiving the massage dresses in comfortable clothing (i.e. suitable for yoga class). Based on metta, or loving kindness, and incorporating meditation, this massage relieves muscular and emotional tension, increases joint mobility and flexibility, balances the body energetically, and generates a deep state of relaxation and well-being.
