Lori Chamberland
Yoga Teacher & Reflexologist
Lori's curiosity in complimentary and alternative medicine is a logical extension of her wonder of the natural world and all things in it. She believes in the principles of Ayurvedic medicine (the sister science to yoga) which works on the premise that humans share the same basic elements of the world around us: air, earth, fire, water and space. To feel healthy, we need to balance these elements within us and be conscious of the effect of the world around us on our body, mind and spirit. The practice of yoga helps us understand this link.
Lori came to Metta Massage & Yoga Clinic with a vision of sharing the many powerful and effective tools yoga can offer to people looking for ways to cope with stress related complaints such as anxiety, depression, fatigue, headaches, digestive complaints and chronic tension.
“I believe we have much more control over our response to stress than we think. My mission at Metta is to help people suffering from stress related complaints harness the healing powers of their own body and mind to resolve them. I am enormously intrigued by time-tested systems of healing like yoga and reflexology, and love to share what I learn with my students and clients.”
Lori completed her 500 hour advanced yoga training program and Integrated Yoga Therapy in 2011. Her long-term goal is to
complete extensive yoga therapy training and work with people suffering from anxiety, depression and insomnia. She has been teaching relaxation and stress management techniques since 1987 and was first certified as a yoga teacher in 2006.
In addition to Lori’s interest in health and wellness she is a musician and artist.
Prior to working at Metta Massage & Yoga Clinic Lori spent the last 15 years working with the Pembina Institute on renewable energy issues. Her career before that was in the health and fitness industry where she returns full circle.
